Friendship Cake

Starter:

1st day: Mix 1 quart peaches-cut up-including juice and 1 and 1/2 cup sugar. Use a large covered bowl. Set aside at room temperature.

7th day: Add one 20 ounce can pineapple bits, including juice, and 1 and 1/2 cup sugar. Mix well and set aside as before.

14th day: Add two 8 ounce jars maraschino cherry halves-no juice-and 1 and 1/2 cup sugar. Mix well and set aside as before.

At the end of the 21 days: Drain off the juice and put into 4 jars - 1 cup each. Give away to friends with the following recipe. Keep 1 if you wish to start over. Divide the fruit into 3 parts and use 1 part of it for 1 cake and refrigerate the rest for future use. When using the pre-made starter liquid, add the 1 cup to the peaches and sugar on the 1st day.
